Jon Shope, President
Jon grew up in a rural setting near Ann Arbor, Michigan and worked on a variety of farms while attending school. Following earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in urban planning, real estate and psychology he developed a career in commercial real estate focusing on difficult projects. Each project involved extensive renovations and creative thought to reverse the signs of age and neglect. Urban planning and sustainability are embodied in each project from the onset. Jon has business operational experience with as many as 18 employees working toward the objective. He has experience managing many tradesmen in the completion of multi-million dollar renovations and maintenance of the facilities owned and managed by Jon and his investors. Jon started a pilot-size version aquaponic system in November 2014 to discover the nuances of growing produce in a basic aquaponic system first hand. Jon personally manages the day-to-day operations as well as the build-up of the expanding business.

Eric Curran, Director of Operations and Aquaculture Manager
A native of Indiana, Eric has been involved at a commercial level with aquaculture and life-sustaining water quality management for over 20 years. He has developed and managed filtration systems containing up to 30 million gallons of recirculating water supporting all manner of aquatic life and mammals. Eric worked at the Indianapolis Zoo where he was responsible for all manner of filtration and water quality equipment for marine mammals. He managed the production of ozone used in purification as well as the liquid oxygen used in the large marine aquarium system. Eric led the setup of aquaponic systems for the Ivy Tech Community College greenhouse. He maintained an aquaponics system at one of the Midwest’s largest mariculture, or marine culture, businesses. Eric has experience in aquatic husbandry and grow-out of several species. At Falling Waters Farm, Eric is responsible for building and managing the team of people while performing duties as the Facility Manager. As Facility Manager he oversees systems for both vegetable production and fish production.

Abby Thompson, Grow Manager
Abby grew up in southwest Ohio with a love for nature and the outdoors from a young age. She attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management focusing on Land Management. Abby cultivated her appreciation and dedication of the natural world through college coursework focused on sustainability, soil and water quality, and conservation. She also integrated Landscape Architecture into her course work earning a minor in the field. Shortly after graduation, Abby began a career with the Indianapolis Zoo in the horticulture department. She managed the exhibit and surrounding landscape areas of the marine mammals and oceans biome where she was responsible for design, installation, and maintenance of all plant material. Abby also managed the 5,000 square foot support greenhouse which houses plant material rotated through the Hilbert Conservatory and over-winters tropical material for use in container design during the growing season. In addition to tropical material, a large portion of the greenhouse is used for plant propagation for the vegetable and herb gardens located on the property. She was directly responsible for the daily care of the plant material as well as biological pest management. At Falling Waters Farm, Abby is the Grow manager where she is responsible for the production of all plants germinated and grown in the facility.

Brian grew up on a farm just south of Lafayette, Indiana. He was raised selling produce and other goods at the local Flea Markets, and out of his home. He has a passion for sales that started early and hasn’t left him. At Gander Mountain he had experience running a retail sales team of 95 people, and preaches customer focused sales. At Falling Waters Farm, Brian manages the sales & marketing for the farm.
